The Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations has authority in the following matters:

· Foreign trade policy and customs tariff policy of B&H;
· Drafting of contracts, accords, and other documents in the fields of economic relations and foreign trade;
· Drafting of bilateral and multilateral agreements and other documents with regard to the renovation and reconstruction of B&H;
· Cooperation with international organizations and institutions in the domains of foreign trade and economic relations;
· Preparation and implementation of macroeconomic relations strategy documents in the field of economic relations;
· Business environment, integral economic area;
· Development and promotion of entrepreneurship;
· Controlling turnover of goods and services of special regulations in the trade relations in importation and exportation;
· Protection of consumers;
· Coordination of international economic aid to B&H, except for the part referring to the European Union aid;
· Veterinary medicine.

This Ministry is also authorized to execute those duties and tasks which fall under the B&H jurisdiction, but refer to definition of policy and basic principles, activity coordination and synchronizing the plans of entity bodies, authorities, and institutions with international plans in the following areas:

· Agriculture;
· Energy sector;
· Environmental control, development and utilization of natural resources;
· Tourism.

The Office for Veterinary Medicine in B&H is a part of this Ministry as an administrative organization.
